More End Time Signs

Cat-killing raccoons on prowl in west Olympia

By STEVE POWELL

The Olympian

"OLYMPIA - Raccoons are cute, until they kill one of your cats. That is what a west Olympia neighborhood is learning this summer.

Raccoons have killed about 10 cats in a three-block area near the Garfield Nature Trail at Harrison Avenue West and Foote Street Southwest.

Problem wildlife coordinator Sean Carrell of the state Department of Fish and Wildlife called the situation "bizarre, weird."

"I've never heard a report of 10 cats being killed. It's something we're going to have to monitor," he said. He added that they may have to bring in trappers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The problem got so bad that residents Kari Hall and Tamara Keeton even started a Raccoon Watch after having an emotional neighborhood meeting attended by about 40 people.

"It was a place for people to mourn and cry," Hall said.

At the meeting, they encouraged people to stop feeding the raccoons. They also decided to keep their pets and pet food inside. And they decided to carry pepper spray to drive off raccoons that attack again."

I'm worried. We have unrest in the middle-east. Russia and China are flexing their muscle and now this. Has nature herself turned on us. First the squirrels began their assault on humans now they are joined by murderous racoon shock troops. Could it be we are in the end times.

As for carrying pepper spray...pepper spray?! Below is a pic of some of DWO's personal armament's.

Leave no terrorist racoon alive! Pepper spray indeed.

Strangely enough, I understand.

Angry Woman Gets Revenge at McDonald's
Aug 14 10:05 PM US/Eastern Email this story

ATHENS, Ga.
"Police have been looking for a disgruntled McDonald's customer who ran into two other customers with her car after a dispute over who was next in line.

Melinda Ann Thomas, 34, and Linda Ann Thomas, 51, were standing in a crowded line around 8:30 a.m. Saturday as they waited to order breakfast, police said. A cashier opened a new line and they stepped to the front of it _ a move that angered another customer who was waiting to order.

According to the report, the unidentified woman started yelling at them and threatened to kill them.

The woman then left the restaurant before the Thomases and stayed in the parking lot, sitting in her dark blue Jeep Cherokee, witnesses told police. As the Thomases made their way to their car, witnesses said the woman pulled out of her parking space and sped toward the women, striking them both with the passenger side of the Jeep.

Neither woman was badly injured, the police report said. "

Okay, I know this is wrong and violence never solves anything, but haven't we all been there? We're waiting in line for ever then the store opens a new line. All the people behind you that haven't been waiting as long rush over and get in the shorter line, thus checking out before you in half the time. Very aggravating.

A new disorder? Usurped in line rage?

Heat Index: 110F

DWO working at a remote digital loop carrier box, heat index, 110F.
Some people say, a person is defined by the type of job they choose to do. I pondered this today when the temperature broke 100. While I'm acclimated to high temps, even I struggled today. And I wonder, why do I do what I do?

A rural road near where I was working. Looks hot, doesn't it?

Strange when you consider I have a degree in English and communications. Though later, after discovering how valuable a non-teaching English degree is, I went back to school and received a degree in electrical technology. I thought perhaps that might enhance my resume.

Up in the air the easy way. Beats climbing a pole anyday.

Perhaps the money motivates me. Telecommunications jobs, especially union ones tend to pay well and have good benefits. But, is that motivation enough?

Maybe I like being out alone almost as one who owns ones own business, without the pitfalls. Maybe I like doing a job most people won't or can't do. There is a perverse pride that comes with battling heat, cold...the environment. Does there have to be a reason? Do I define the job, or does it define me. Does the type of work I choose to do reflect on who I truly am?

I wonder.

So,why did you choose the job you do? And if you are still choosing, what are you looking for?

Another way to settle the Middle Eastern War

I have been watching the conflict in Lebanon and have wondered if there might be a better way. After much thought I have developed what I call the "Parker Brothers Doctrine." This new and improved strategic doctrine creates the same results without all the blood shed and destruction.

When two or more countries have a conflict they select one of the follow games to settle their differences. For this to work all nuclear weapons would be held by an unbiased 3rd party. If the country that loses doesn't abide by the results they are nuked into oblivion.

Some examples:

Risk: This one is a no brainer. Risk is the ultimate world domination game. Whichever country is occupied at the end of the game looses and must surrender to the other.

World Monopoly: This is basic monopoly updated for current events. Park Place might be the USA, Baltic Ave might be Lebanon etc. "Go" would be the UN. Example: "Go straight to the WTO. Do not pass the UN do not collect 200 Euros."

Twister: Lame on the surface, I know, but imagine the fun watching the leader of Hezbollah and the Israeli Prime Minister both trying to put their left foot on the green circle. Best two out of three gets the West Bank.

Scrabble: I decided to reject this one because when using this one in the middle east no one would ever know if anything was spelled right or not. Is Hekuballalah a word or not? And if you challenge it and you're wrong, you loose your turn.

So as you can see the Parker Brother Doctrine makes much more sense than the current method of destruction and death. How about it?
